HK-540A is a food grade Alpha-Amylase produced from selected strains of Bacillus licheniformis through submerged fermentation and refining extraction processes.
With its superior heat stability and acidic resistance, HK-540A is used to liquefy starch materials in the alcohol/ethanol industry.
BENEFITS:
Robust alpha-amylase activity can decrease the dosage level considerably;
Outstanding performance without adding calcium under normal conditions;
Superior stability under low pH, which decreases the chemicals for pH adjustment;
The short-chain dextrin molecules have an even size, which helps to increase the glucose content in the downstream saccharification process;
Capable of liquefying various starch substitutes, such as cassava, corn, wheat, and rice.
EFFECT OF PH
HK-540A can work at pH 4.5∼6.5,with its optimal pH range 4.8∼5.8.
EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE
For interval liquefaction, HK-540A works at its optimal temperatures above 90°C. It can liquefy starch quickly at 95∼97°C and remain active at 100°C. For consecutive spray liquefaction, HK-540A demonstrates its exceptional heat stability at high temperatures and keeps on rapid and complete liquefaction at 105∼115°C for 5∼7 minutes.
CALCIUM ION
Calcium ion plays a protective role for the stability of enzyme activity. HK-540A has a very low requirement of calcium content, normally 5∼20PPM is sufficient. No need to add calcium if tap water or groundwater is used.
INHIBITORS
Copper, titanium, and cobalt ions are moderate inhibitors for HK-540A; aluminum, lead and zinc ions are strong inhibitors for this enzyme.
USAGE GUIDELINES
For the industrial application of one-time spray liquefaction, first prepare 30∼35% w/w starch slurry, no need to adjust pH normally; however, in case of pH is below 4.8, then adjust pH ≥4.8. The recommended dosage rate shall be 0.08∼0.1 kg per ton of corn or 0.025∼0.053 kg per ton of cassava. Spray liquefaction Liquefy at 105∼115°C for 5∼7 minutes, flash cooling down to around 97°C, and keep on liquefying at temperatures at 95∼97 °C for 90∼120 minutes to reach the required DE value.
Recommended dosage : 0.08-0.1kg per ton of corns, 0.025-0.035kg per ton of cassava.
The exact dosage rate of HK-540A depends on the actual processing conditions such as starch substrate, liquefaction equipment, pH, temperature, processing time, etc. To optimize the dosage, it is recommended to conduct several liquefaction trials before routine use of this product.
PACKAGING, STORAGE & SHELF-LIFE
The typical packaging is 30kg food-grade HDPE canisters, or 1125kg IBC totes.
Customized packaging is available upon request.
The typical shelf-life is 18 months if provided being stored at 0∼25°C in its original packaging, sealed and unopened, and protected from direct sunlight.
HK-540A has been formulated for optimal stability. Prolonged storage and/or adverse conditions such as higher temperatures may lead to a higher dosage requirement, and thus should be avoided.
SAFE HANDLING OF ENZYMES
Inhalation of enzyme dust and mists should be avoided. In case of contact with skin or eyes, promptly rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. For detailed handling information, please
refer to the Safety Data Sheet.
